Hymenoptera venom allergy
Hymenoptera venom allergy is usually a bee or wasp sting allergy. Allergy to bumblebee or hornet sting occurs less frequently. As soon as a patient not only reacts locally on the sting site, but on the whole body involving the respiratory or cardiovascular system, it is necessary to measure the specific IgE and provide them with an emergency kit (for severe reactions, including adrenaline auto-injector). In these cases, a specific immunotherapy with bee or wasp venom should also be considered, as protection is achieved in 85% of patients with bee sting allergy and in 95% of patients with wasp sting allergy.
