Allergic rhinoconjunctivitis

Allergic rhinoconjunctivits (hay fever) is marked by itching and watering of the eye, sneezing, nasal discharge and congestion. If triggered by tree pollen, the symptoms appear more likely in the spring, and by grass more likely in the summer. If the symptoms persist throughout the year, a diagnostic workup should be performed to search for an allergy to house dust mite, mold or animal hair. There are a large number of medicines available offering symptomatic relief. Allergen-specific immunotherapy is the only treatment approach that directly targets the cause of allergy.
